Invisible Braces
Orthodontics is a way of moving the teeth into a more favourable position.
This treatment is not only to straighten the teeth for aesthetic reasons but also for functional reasons too.
Braces are now extremely popular, we use clear aligners (braces) which are able to move the teeth gradually and are an excellent alternative to traditional braces that are glued to the teeth also known as train tracks.
How do I know if Clear Aligners are suitable for me?
Once you have had a full dental consultation with Dr Khanna we will assess whether clear aligners are suitable for you by taking impressions or moulds of your teeth. A large panoramic x-ray of your teeth and jawbone will be required to ensure that you are suitable.
Once we have the report back from the laboratory we will then discuss with you your treatment plan. We will be able to show you with the latest technology how your teeth will look after the orthodontic treatment has been completed. This is an ideal opportunity to visualize the final results and discuss any further question you may have.
What does the treatment involve?
You will have a set of Clear aligners to complete your treatment this can be as little as 3 aligners and anything up to 15 aligners depending on the severity of your case. Each aligner must be worn for at least 23 hours a day and these will need to be changed every 3 weeks. Once the treatment is complete you will need to wear a retainer to retain the teeth in their new position. This is particularly important within the first 6 months after the treatment has been completed.
Will I need to attend an appointment every 3 weeks?
No, once you are confident at changing the aligners by yourself you are able to take the whole set home to continue the treatment. We will review you when necessary to ensure that the treatment is progressing as it should. Sometimes we may need to make slight adjustments to the teeth throughout the treatment in which we will arrange an appointment when necessary.
