Acne Treatment
Acne can affect us all at any point in our lives, although the severity of the acne can vary widely from person to person and on different areas of the body.
Whilst acne is associated with puberty, many suffer with this condition into adulthood. The most commonly treated areas for acne are the face, neck and back.
At the DrBK clinic, we offer a number of acne treatments to improve the appearance of acne and manage the condition going forward. We work with a view to eradicate acne altogether and to minimise scarring.
What Are The Causes Of Acne?
Acne develops when the pores of the skin become blocked. This can be as a result of a build-up of excess oils, bacteria or dead skin cells and primarily effect people with a greater number of oil glands. Hormonal changes are the most common trigger of acne, either in puberty or through pregnancy. A diet that is high in fat or sugars can also contribute, and this is possibly due to a combination of increased blood sugar and insulin release. Certain medications (such as the contraceptive pill) can also trigger acne.
How Severe Is Your Acne?
Mild: Acne is mostly confined to whiteheads and blackhead, with just a few papules and pustules.
Moderate: There are multiple papules and pustules, which are mostly confined to the face.
Moderate-Severe: There is a large number of papules and pustules, as well as the occasional inflamed nodule. The back and the chest are also affected by acne.
Severe: There is a large number of large & painful pustules and nodules.

HydraFacial®
A HydraFacial is a 6-in-1 treatment that addresses various issues within the skin. The 6 step process has made the HydraFacial the number 1 non-invasive treatment for skincare. When a patient has a particular issue with their skin (i.e. in this instance, acne), we can use the ZO Skin Health Acne Treatment protocol in conjunction with the HydraFacial, for optimum results. Skin Peels
Chemical skin peels can reduce the symptoms of acne by working deep within the skin. They stimulate new cell growth and the production of collagen and elastin, encouraging cell renewal. Dead skin cells are removed and clean, fresh, new skin takes its place, improving the tone and texture of skin over time.
We offer a range of skin peels with different strengths that you would be able to move onto as your treatment programme progresses.
Micro-needling
Micro-needling is available for those whose acne is not active but has left scarring and enlarged, open pores. This treatment stimulates increased levels of elastin, collagen and promotes overall skin rejuvenation, leaving you with smoother, clearer and more even skin.
