What are dermal & Cheek fillers?
Over time, skin can lose its elasticity and smoothness, but you can keep wrinkles at bay with the DrBk Clinic. As we grow older, the underlying tissues which give our skin a plump, youthful appearance tend to break down, resulting in laughter lines and crow's feet. Dermal fillers work to combat this problem. When injected below the skin, they can pump up those sunken or creased areas to help you regain the fullness of youth.
If you'd like to restore youthful fullness to your face, enjoy plump lips, enhance shallow contours or soften those facial creases and wrinkles, dermal fillers may be the answer. Dermal fillers have been called "liquid facelifts" because they offer many of the benefits of a surgical facelift without the downtime.
Although they can't help with excess sagging skin, these soft tissue fillers can add more volume and provide immediate results at a lower cost than surgery. These treatments aren't permanent, however, and they must be repeated and maintained.
Dermal fillers, such as lip or cheek fillers, can be used to give better definition to facial features. Get a plumper pout or enjoy sharper looking cheekbones with expert cheek fillers.
Some dermal fillers are used in conjunction with other skin rejuvenation treatments such as injections of botulinum toxin. Your plastic surgeon will assess your needs and recommend one or a combination of treatments to achieve your desired results

How is a lip augmentation performed?
There are many different types of lip augmentation procedures, each with particular advantages and limitations as will be explained below.
Injections involve filling the lip with a soft substance to create a fuller appearance. Collagen and fat are the most widely used inject-able substances.
Prepared from the collagen found in cow skin, collagen injections are used to temporarily augment the lips. Although it is purified, this collagen may cause allergic reactions in some people. For that reason, a sensitivity test should be performed before the actual lip augmentation procedure. Collagen is guaranteed by the manufacturer to be BSE-free.
Collagen is injected into the lip with a small needle. Because the body slowly absorbs the collagen, the results generally last between six and seven months. The procedure may be repeated as needed.
Fat injections are also placed in the lips with small needles. The fat used is harvested from another area of the body - most often the abdomen or the inner thighs - and is purified before it is injected into the lips. An advantage to this procedure is that there is no possibility of an allergic reaction. As with collagen injections, results are temporary. The procedure is often performed more than once to achieve desired results.
Injection Techniques for Lip Augmentation
Lip augmentation with injectable lip fillers provides pleasing results in as little as 30 minutes. Anesthesia is typically not necessary for the procedure because the filler usually includes lidocaine or another topical anesthetic. The results with injectable lip fillers are temporary because the body eventually breaks down and absorbs the filler. The length of time the results last varies with each individual, but the average is generally four to six months. Individuals who are considering lip implants for permanent lip augmentation are advised to try injectable lip fillers first to see if implants would provide the desired cosmetic benefit.
Doctors frequently use injectable lip fillers to give the lips a plump, voluptuous look.
